Phuket is an island near the west coast of Thailand. It is washed by the waters of the Andaman Sea. Phuket is often called the pearl of the Andaman coast. Diving is considered one of the most popular forms of recreation on the island. You can dive in the area of the marine park, where turtles swim in crystal clear water, and they are not afraid of people.
Another popular place among divers is Anemone Reef. It is a big underwater peak of limestone, surrounded by the inhabitants of the depths. At a distance of 1 km from the peak, the King Cruiser, a sunken passenger ferry, lies. It sunk at the beginning of May 1997. Since then, its only passengers are small fish hiding from predators.
Phuket is located in the zone of tropical climate with a characteristic seasonal pattern. There are three seasons on the island: cool weather (November-February), hot season (March-May) and rains with high waves in the sea (April-May and September-October). The average air temperature is +29 to +33 ˚C, and the water temperature is +28 to +29 ˚C. The cool season is considered the most preferable to visit Phuket.
The most of dive sites are located near Koh Racha Yai Island. The Ao Patok Bay near the west coast makes it possible to make three types of dives: along the southern and northern walls and in the centre of the bay. And those who love coastal diving should go to Coral Island.
