Scuba Diving in Saudi Arabia

Sunny Saudi Arabia is the largest state in the Arabian Peninsula. This fabulous place is washed by the waters of the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf. More recently, the country has become a popular diving destination. The coastline of Saudi Arabia is 1830 kilometres of almost untouched coral reefs. They were preserved in their original form, as a result of government restrictions which allowed only a few divers to touch the world of the Red Sea. The diversity of marine life is astounding. The country has become popular among diving enthusiasts due to the rich underwater world: dolphins, sharks, sea urchins, moray eels, humpback whales and exotic species of deep-sea fish live here. In addition to the fantastic reefs, you will have a chance to visit sunken ships and their debris, dive along the walls, and explore caves and canyons. Besides scuba diving, people are actively engaged in freediving and snorkelling.

Dive into the most beautiful and picturesque coral reef of Ala. Here, at a safe depth of 30 meters, one can see shoals of huge fish, as well as reef and whale sharks. Particularly noteworthy are the giant oceanic manta rays, Melichthys and, among others, northern red snappers. It is one of the few places in the world where you can find a hammerhead shark.
Come across the hammerhead shark, the symbol of the Red Sea. Under favourable circumstances, you can dive with sharks. It is necessary to be cautious, dangerous species live in these waters: oceanic whitetip sharks and tiger sharks. They swim at a depth along the shelf. Reef sharks and giant manta rays, which are called sea devils, could also be found in these waters.
Try wall diving. Located at a depth of 12 meters, the wall diving spot Redmah Wall has become a habitat for schools of small bright fish. Among the multi-coloured soft corals, you will find sea seabass and starfish. The underwater landscape is colorful and diverse, along the wall soft and stony corals alternate with long bunches of sea anemones.
To enjoy the wreck diving. One of the best dive sites is the wreck of a Boiler cargo ship, where you can also try cave and wall diving. It is practically unexplored since, until 2005, few divers were allowed to enter the country. The ship became a true home for sharks, manta rays, pelamids and royal angelfish.
Visit a unique place — the Farasan Islands archipelago, which includes 84 small coral islands. The archipelago was open to public relatively recently. The greater interest is raised by the marine reserve Farasan (Farasan Island Marine Sanctuary), known for its rare marine animals: dugongs and turtles. Next to them live dolphins, moray eels and harmless sharks.
